Progress: Nissan Mirca Street

WELL i started a new one while i wait for the weather to paint my Rx7-R1
its a nissan Micra/March;

ive started by opening up the front end and meshing it over, i plan on extending the bonnet lip further down over the mesh/grill and the same over the headlights. i will probably insert an intercooler too or use wire mesh so it isnt so empty behind

the rear end started with a few different ideas, all of which came from the front end of a ford focus (revell) i tried several front bumpers which all fitted onto the back end of the micra. ive decided to settle with this one and i plan on opening it up similar to the front end with mesh over it which the exhaust coming through the mesh.

So far i have no side skirts or anything, im terrible as scratch building these as you may remember from my failed beetle project so i have posted an add in the classified for some Golf GTi Mk 1 side skirts which will fit on almost perfectly. for the rest of the sides i have shaved the key holes and the side indicators as i am going to add my own.

as you can see from the next pic i have opened up the sun roof which is going to be tinted black using tamiya smoke, im going to try and use a hinge on this so it will open and close fairly easily.

any comments welcome and please be forthcuming (cant spell) cheers

Re: Progress: Nissan Mirca Street

It's not that it's bad, I just didn't see it yet!! I was staring at that bumper and was wondering why it looked familiar. Then it hit me that I have the WRC Focus with the same bumper! LOL Nice touch!

Re: Progress: Nissan Mirca Street

yeh i looked through all of my kits for a decent bumper i orginally was gonna try to put it on the front of a beetle but yeh it works good on the back of the mirca, and yes its a fujimi kit which apart from it being curbside i think is an excellent kit very strong and steady pieces which i like

Re: Progress: Nissan Micra Street

Looking good. I think if people could see more, they'd reply. Right now it's tough to see what's going on

Re: Progress: Nissan Micra Street

a little progress on the car, as i have had a tough few weeks so i havent been able to get much done. i had sprayed the base coat of silver on the body before my airbrush decided to die, so after sanding this coat down i came across the sas civic widebody kit

it took a little gentle pursuasion but i got it on and have smoothened up one side of it, the interior is painted but i havent had time to take any decent pics, im hoping to finish the other side of the car tomorow, and have it primed on monday, today being saturday (i also filled in the door handles)

the theme of the micra has now changed slightly from street to touring/rally. the body is going to be a white gloss with the custom made decals on as you will see them in the following pics

i still need to moult the front and rear bumpers to the rest of the body with some putty and styrene to make it more balanced, im in the process of doing this.
