|
hooking amp up to rear speakers only?
i'm thinking of getting a 300 watt amp and hooking it up only to my rear 6X9 speakers. i asked a guy at work about whether or not it would sound alright and he had no idea so im taking this to the forums. anyone?

it would work but just make sure the speakers are able to handle the power that the amp will be giving them so u dont blow them. i have mine hooked up to an amp but i also have subs and they sound pretty good.

cool...i didnt know if it would sound alright at high volume with the front speakers not being amplified

Ok, if u have Sony Xplodes they can only handle 80 watts before they blow. If you got a 250 watt amp and some front speakers you could saflty hook all 4 to the amp.

that sounds good....does anyone know the stock wattage of a 2001 GA SE? or is that dependent on the head unit?

not all sony's are 80 watts. ur pry thinking of RMS which is the minimum wattage they should receive. the higher number is the maximum but never put that much power to them.
