91 grandprix

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would have any advise why my 91 GP won't start.
Work that was done recently was.. Timing chain (new), EGR (new), Coils, spark plug wires, spark plugs, battery and air filter.
A few month ago I got the injectors cleaned by a mechanic.

It started one day but stayed on for only 20 seconds and died out.
After trying to start the oil smells like gas, I'm thinking the timing might be off a bit..

Any suggestions?
thnx

Re: 91 grandprix

Try the Crank position sensor or the ignition module. Either will cause a condition like you describe. As you say the timing may be off a bit too but try the above two items first before tackling the timing chain again.

heh, I forgot to mention I put a new crank sensor in & Ignition module. My best bet is it's the timing chain that's probably off by a tooth or so..

You're probably right then if you already changed the two items I mentioned.

Maybe the Throttle sensor??
It only runs for a little while when you gun the gas down, runs at idle speed.. not sure, could be anything.

Possible! Are you certain that the fuel pressure is correct. If the car will run at idle then it is possible you aren't getting enough fuel to run at a higher speed. Also when you replaced all the parts did you do the idle learn procedure. This is especially important with the CPS change so that the computer gets a reference to allow the ignition to work properly. The Chilton's or Haynes manual should explain this procedure.

seems a little bit fine now, runs fine at idle with nothing on the gas. but, its still a little jumpy so I got a friend to come over tomorrow to look at it. Just hopefully everything runs smooth..
