97 Silverado K1500 4L60E.
I rebuilt trans after the SG Shell gave out, boat attached, backing into drive. Upgrades: HD Clutches (All) Transgo Shift kit Transgo VB Plate Sonnax Corvette Servo Pump Rings Bearings HD Torque Converter Kevlar Band After -/+ 1hr drive time, got code P1860. Replaced TCC Selenoid 2x, still same code. Pulled trans,(what a mistake) checked everything again, all was fine. Tested wiring for voltage, and resistance all checked out OK. Installed trans, ran 20 miles tried 4x4 and it worked fine, tried 4x4 Lo, and got flashing light. Then High (ok), then Low again and ok. Pushed 4x2 and SES light came on, 4x4 low flashed. Shut off engine, restarted, immediatly pushed 2x4 and it engaged, SES still on. Still had code P1860. Truck ran well, and you could tell lockup was happening occasionally but not consistiently. 4x4 low still gets flashing light. Then 9 days after 2nd build, lost Battery. Got jump from national auto service, they had a hard time but it started, then died. and NO SES light. Towed home, pulled Alternator and battery, went to auto store, Alt OK, Batt DOA. Got new, off the shelf battery went home installed both. Truck started fine, ran 25 miles and no code. Then, as I turned around to go home bingo, SES came on. Came home started documenting my issues, remembered that car stereo sounded great during the no SES drive and sounded not as clear when light came on. Looked into IGN Switch, cleaned, assembled (broke start return nub) but installed knowing that I would have to turn back key once engine started. Let warm up for 5 - 10 minutes and didn't even get 1 min drive time and got SES light P1860. Tried 4hi, engaged ok, 4lo light still flashes. Could the 4lo have anything to do with this? The VB? Me? What about the upgrades? Also, Lockup has become more sporadic, if at all. I am seriously stumped. I have been forbidden to go into the garage with a lighter as that is where I keep all my shop rags and the truck sits there taunting me just outside the door. Far enough as to not leave black soot marks on my house. It is this site that gave me the confidence to do the rebuild, and I am confident that your collective minds will know the answer. Thanks in advance. Paul. |

Re: 97 4L60E code P1860 laughing at me.
Call the techs at www.sonnax.com and explain your predicament. I'm sure they can point you towards a solution. Hell, that's all they do.

Re: 97 4L60E code P1860 laughing at me.
I'll give it a try. What concerns me is that I didn't get the SES light after the battery went DOA. But this wouldn't be the first time a secondary issue redirected me from original one.
Thanks, I'll update later. |

if all that was wrong ,,,,was the sun-shell took a dump,,,,best guess would be a problem with vb upgrades!!! transfer-case shift select problems have nothing to do with the trans,,,nor the radio or battery, ect ect......re-built is a very general term,,,starting with a aerosol overhaul!!!!which you can get at wal-mart for $0.99 +tax. The fault code will tell you of a condition,,,,,,NOT necessarily whats balled-up,,,,
normally that trans rebuilds with no problems [email protected] |
