1997 jetta 6 disc cd changer

I recently purchased a 1997 jetta GL with premium sound. The 6 dic cd changer in the trunk will not eject the cd case and I can not get the thing to play. It says on the stereo Er 2. Someone suggested that I unplug the thing wait a couple min. to let the static adjust then try again. This seems to be a temporary fix about 1% of the time. Any suggestions.

That should be the Carion made unit & the code means there is a mechanical failure in the ejecting or loading of the CD.

mine did the same thing 97 jetta. pulled it out opened it up and there were two cd's in the same slot easy fix just open it up
