the dreaded check engine light

Ok, so heres how it goes, I'm driving around tonight going to get some food, and I don't notice the check engine light on because its not(a very bright light I would surely notice in my dash). So after I'm done in the restaurant, I start the car up and there it is. Seems like its on for no reason but Im not sure. Also I think my car is a bit louder by the pulley side. I have a 95 eclipse gst with air intake and underdrive pulley. Any ideas what the problem is or could be? thanks

Re: the dreaded check engine light

Not sure what the problem may be, but take your car to Autozone. They do code scanning for free. Get the read, and there you go.

Re: the dreaded check engine light

Bigger, lighter underdrive pulleys can cause problems with your amp, alternator (I think) among other things. Have it checked out by AutoZone or PepBoys or even the dealer to find out what the problem is.

There is absolutely no way to guess MIL codes. Get it checked.

Re: the dreaded check engine light

depending on the year of your car you can also check them yourself. i think you turn the key on, off, on, off, on within 5 seconds and then leave it there and watch your cel light. just read in the owners manual about engine codes or some shit like that. then go online and find the codes and it'll tell you what the problem is.
