Someone please help!!! I wqas driving home and the car lost all electrical power while I was driving!! I was able to get to the side of the highway without incident but the car would not start. I let it sit for about 10-15 mins. and tried to start it again. I got lights on the dash when I turned the switch to the ON posistion, but when I went to statr it lost all electrical power. If anyone out there can help, I would sure appreciate it

Re: Total Electrical shutdown
I had a similar problem with my '86; yours might not be the same(what year?), but....
There is a junction/cluster of wires on the right fender, just behind the battery. There's a lead from the positive side of the battery that goes to the junction; one of the wires there has a fusible link that is designed to burn up prior to damaging anything else in the system. Mine had burned out (got a puff of white smoke from under the hood when it died). I located the burned up wire pretty quickly, it was out in the open. About $3 of new fusible link wire and some connectors and a 1/2 hour saw me back on the road. Hope yours is as easy to fix.
