RPM's 1998

Could anyone tell me what the normal RPM's are at operating temp?. I am getting 700 now but I thought I use to get 900. My concern is an irratic idle. I belive a fixed part of my problem by replacing the IAC which did end up throwing its own code p1504. (I may have inavertly shorted it out while doing a ohms test on it...lol). When my cooling fan and AC kicks on the RPM's drops to 250 (Yes it usually stalls) Since I've replaced the IAC the idle will jump 350 rpms instead of drop 250 - 400 rpms, but I am still concerned about the idle only being about 725-750. The van has 120000 miles - 98 Windstar 3.8. I suspect my MAF maybe acting up. I am afraid to doing any more testing since I burnt up my last project..lol (IAC). (Oh.........my Alt. ranges 14 to 14.5 Volts during the kicking on of the AC and fan ...i have ruled this out as a prob....Thanks

Sounds fine, mine idles smooth at 700 and jumps a few hundred as the compressor kicks in as well.

700-750 good idle rpm

I guess i need to under the hood and soon. my 3.8 98 windstar idles at around 650. i've had it stall a few times already and i'm sure i hear a hiss so there's definetely a vacuum leak somewhere. is there an easy way to check for this leak? thanks in advance
