Lesabre '01 brake noise

Just purchased my '01 LeSabre and it was fine until a couple of days later, it was really hot oyside (more than 80 degreees) and when I press on the brakes, sometimes they make a moaning sound. After the temperature outside cools, the sound seems to vanish. Read in some report online that it's a common problem. Is it? Did anyone else have the same thing, should I just get used to it? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the rear drum brakes get dirt or oil on the pads and will cause some noise or grabbing. I once took off the drums and cleaned everything with brake cleaner and lightly wirebushed the sheen off the pads. Cured the problem. If it looks like an obvious leak, you gotta fix that.

My 2000 has rear disks, so I would think his 2001 would have them also.
I have not experience any 'moaning' with my 2000, however as you mention, it may be dirt, oil, of brake fluid contaminating the pads.
On the other hand, Lesabrefan, you might just have to live with it, or it may go away. I would take the wheels off and have a look.

My 2000 also makes the rear brake moaning sound. It only happens when the car has been running for a while and the weather is warm. It first showed up on a hot day in traffic about a year ago. I suspect that it might have something to do with the emergency brake. I've applied it and let it off a few times but it hasn't seemed to help. I plan to take a look at it in a few days and I'll post my findings to the list.

I had experienced the same thing as well with my 2000 and a little trick I use is to file a 45 degree bevel on all of the edges of the pads. (Along with cleaning the rotor and pads with cleaner). Our average summertime temperature here in Phoenix is about 115 and I don't get a peep!

Cleaning is always a good start. That is what I hope to do tomorrow, weather permitting.

Cleaning didn't take care of the moaning problem so I replaced the pads (50K miles) and had the rotors turned. The rotors weren't warped but I figured that I would have a good strarting point if they were true.
So far the moaning hasn't occured.
