Got my 1st light ti light race

It happened Friday night, i picked my friend up from work and dropped her off at home and opn my way home, this 93 Mazda MX-6 was flying by me. I looked to see who was driving it and it was a buddy from back in high school. Told him to pull over and we got to talking. He's a real honda guy (not bashing) and believes they are the fastest. Anyway, he ask me to pop the hood to show him what i got. He thought my motor was the shit (it's only a 305, didn't see way he was so impressed) only mods i have are accel distributor cap and rotor and msd 8.5mm wires(couldn't find any accel wires at the time). My engine was at the time and is still running like shit. I got four exhaust leaks, at the time my cooling fans weren't working ( fixed one this weekend), my tranny acts funny every once in a while. After looking at mine he popped his hood it was a 6er, he had a CAI and i really don't know if he had any other mods. He seemed really excited when told his car was SOHC 24V and it just goes, btw the way he also said his engine was bigger than mine. Im not an ass so i just let it go. But anyway, after shootin the shit for awhile, he needed to leave and i was kinda tired myself. So he was like do ya wanna run? I was like yeah. So we pulled up to the light, and it was a straight about a 1/4mile til the next light. Neither were revving so when the light turn green, i we just gunned it. I had him all the way up until 70 which is where we shut down. I put 1 car length, but would of put more if the check engine light didn't come on (when ever it does my car won't pull anymore) so when he pulled up he was like you got me. Then he just pulled off flying ( i would of pulled off too but my car wasn't pulling ) I was proud of her. She got her first race and won not by much but it was a victory. And she was running like shit. Damn i love camaros

sounds like a good race. didt those ignition uprgades help your car out enough to notice a difference

Yeah, they did. The car when i bought it and drove it home, it didn't perform all that well. When i got to the tune-up the spark plug and wires were all messed up. When i put the new ones on the car actually sounded like a different car. Pick was much better, it was great. My new problem iswhen i'm under hard acceleration, my check engine light comes on snd the car becomes completely sluggish. Any idea?

none... the only thing i can fathum is maybe not a correct fuel/air ratio going into the engine when you punch it

nice, it would have sucked if your check engine light came on while you were racing and he goes flying buy you thinking he won.

Tell me about, the next light that i got to after that race, i tried to gun it and it didn't pull well at all, sucks, but hey i still won damn it was fun. Anyone know how fast those MX-6's are anyways? I knew i would of been able to smoke em if everything was running properly.

your car cuts out at 70? and i was bitching how i hit a bit higher than 125 and mines went out. hell the speed limit here is 70, u wouldnt have no fun here in fl. cant u get that limiter taken off? i dont know much about 3rd gens so u have to forgive my ignorance on the matter

No it's not a limiter, when i'm usually going high speeds like that, my check engine light comes on and the damn car gets completely sluggish and doesn't want to pull anymore ( it's pulling but barely ). I read somewhere on this forum that someone got a 305RS up to 135 and i believe that the 88 or 89 iroc-z 350 get hit 147, thats what it said in this old motor trend book. Damn, i wish i had that car, i believe it is in the 14s.
