Couple easy questions?

i own a 00 sunfire se and when im dring it doesnt matter what speed the window crackles all the time..it sounds just like hail ?

my heater has 4 speeds as most do..my second one doesnt do a damn thing i need to either use 3 or 4 if i want heat or a/c i mean even if it is still on one you do get some heat but barley a thing ?

Automatic door locks... i have the factory automatic door locks/unlock remote and it unlcoks every dorr in the except the driver side door (what a rip off) it was not allways like this but it has been for along time .. and the same thing with the trunk , the trunk button on my remote does not work either?

1: Check the whole guide/windowseal assy in that door. Could be detached in places; or it may be full of grit the size of tiny stones. clean it anyway.

2: Heater fan speed resistor is bad.

3: Bad wiring to the selenoids in each lock assy; or bad selenoids. Check for voltage/current at each. If you're handy, check the carbon pad inside the remote and clean it with alcohol and a cotton swap and reassemble.

4: The very best thing you can do to save some gas is to do a "complete" tuneup. Once thats done you can at least rule out any kind of maintenance deficiencies and see if there is a real problem with leaky injectors, cylinder compression loss, etc.

And don't be too keen on driving too reservedly. Take your machine on a good hi-way run regularly, especially if you do a lot of urban driving. In other words, blow some of that carbon out of the engine...safely. If you are sitting idly waiting in a parking lot or like, consider this. After 10 secs of doing so, you're wasting gas. Turn the ngine off. Think environmental, and not convienience. It actually does work!

This may be a bad sign. If the winshield has ever been replaced, it's very possible there was some glass left intact when the new one was installed, hence grinding/crackling noise. The danger is that any pressure exerted by the old glass onto the edge of the new can cause sudden failure. I've seen a winshield shatter when moderate sharp pressure is exerted on the lower edge of the inside winshield surface.
If not, then I'd recheck any trim/seating around the glass for corrosion. Does your sound system produce bass levels that produce pressure levels way beyond the norm? If so, then I'd check the mounting of all fixed glass. SPLs from hi-end systems can do some amazing things to well sealed cars!
Heres a test for leftovers inside the ceiling/windowframe area. (screws etc) use a magnet and trace round the window frame. You might hear some skittling of "stuff" as it follows the mag.
ps: check the rearview for slack mount.

I bet! However there is some good news here. Now you can do something about the potential for sudden winshield collapse (if indeed this is the problem). Could save a life or two....or three...

Just for the record tho. Check the cowling area where the wiper assembly arms are situated. there might just be some rocks and gravelly stuff moving around in there! Easy fix!

Always the optimist...eh?

hth
