Ricer with an EVO

i have explaind previously that Perth competes with the best when it comes to ricer/population ratios. Most come in the form of the lancer.

Lancers with evo body kits are appearing regularly on the streets of my little town, which is often amusing as that 1.5 litre doesnt leave much for the imagination.

heres how it went

Diving home down a 3 lane hwy, last night with my lady.
Im in one of the z's its an 83 na.
At the next lights i see a lancer with an evo kit and some 'mad' neons, so i pull up alongside him and the dude starts reving, iv got the windows up and the music cranking so i didnt hear him at all, my gf points out that he wants to go so i rev back.
Ok another hack in a try hard evo going to get his ass handed to him by the z, i rev back and hold it at 2.5K.
light goes green and much to my surprise he was ahead by about a car before i max 2nd!
bloody hell!
Finally a real evo has gotten revenge for all those riced out lancers left with tyre marks on em.

I shut down at 150, him a far bit ahead.
oh my! im never going to hear the end of it from the girl friend, as iv been hammering it into her for the past year or so that lancers are for girls and my granny could run faster than 'em.

Re: Ricer with an EVO

lol. reminds me of the story where the vr4 got revenge after some car just beat a SL(I forget who posted it). I bet next time you'll be looking for a FMIC next time a supposed evo rolls up on you.

the lancer comes with a 2.0 here, they make 120 and 162 hp depending on the model.

also why do you call him rice? I think that whole ricer stereotype is outta hand. neons are nice and unless he had blue neons under the car, red neon around his license plate, green neons in his interior and pink neons glowing from his front bumper I would not call it rice.
you guys really have a low tollerence for customization! or is it that a world filled of completely cosmetically stock cars is what pleases you?

Re: Ricer with an EVO

its not that he was rice its just that i expected a riced out lancer, i have raced them and seen them plenty of times b4. i just came up to the light saw the lancer and the glow forn below and simply wrote him off as another ricer lancer try hard.

It was dark i had music cranked and the widows shut and lancers dont interest me too much, i guess i didnt take too much notice.

Some of the evo kits look farking good hey they are bascially real evos without the good stuff, the chance of getting a real one where slim as i found out the hard way.

I see now, sorry I thought you where just stereotyping him.

so how fast is the Z? sounds like you kept up well enough not to get slaughtered.

I see alot of fake evos too man. there is one in my job district. the guy put the complete evo kit on it, evo rims, evo wing, he even bought a fake intercooler and mounted it. He was going around terrifying the younger guys in the area asking them to race knowing they would back down. the only reason I noticed it had to be a fake was cause of the brake callipers, dead givaway.

Oh god...

Anyway, I have yet to see an actual evo driving in person. I see the lancers, and I've seen the evos at the dealership, but have yet to see any on the road. Tough loss, but it happens, plus you can always take it out on some more lancers.

with a good trained eye the no body kit can ever fake the evo's flared fenders, and wider trunk tail lights. let me just post some side by side pics and you'll see what i mean.

here is a pic of a lancer ralliart, the closest looking lancer to an evo you can get. look at the rear fenders, its smooth and have no blistering fender, the tail lights are also different to the point where the stock EVO's tailights are wider, and cannot be put into them unless they have a good custom body job

here is the rear EVO.

you see how the whole rear fender blisters out by over an inch from the rear lights to the middle of hte rear door? this is very very obvious esp from lookin in the back or the front, the car looks muscular, the regular lancers looks slim and smooth. you also notice how the rear taillights are actually 3 full round circles further showing the car is wider, then the 2 semi circle tailights of a the standard lancer.

here is the front view of a oridinaly lancer.

notice how slim the sides look?

now heres the front of a real EVO.

notice how much the front fenders buldge out?

now heres the whole pic of hte car with both bulding fenders

this

compared to this

you can't fake those. you can easily tell by lookin at the right areas. the lancer looks slender and weak, while the real deal EVO looks like its goin to eat you with its buldging shoulders.

Re: Ricer with an EVO

I think neons and body kits doen right can look very nice. I still hold that rice is an attitude, disregardless of car. I've known people with "riced out cars" that are real down to earth, cool guys, and guys with bad ass cars who are totall dicks and act like the stereotypical ricer. Nice death to a nice car.

the ralliart lancer has a 2.4 engine (the 4g64), which is the 160hp one.

Re: Ricer with an EVO

From looking at the pics there is a lot of night and day differences between the Lancer and the Evo, headlights, taillights, grille openings, body bulges, ect. If I were to ever spring for an Evo the one thing it wouldn't have is that wing on the back (they can be ordered without), from what I read about them the wing makes it real hard to identify any vehicles behind you using the mirror, I would want to be able to see if there is a cop behind me before going off and doing something you shouldn't be doing on public roads. If it was my car it would be history, I wouldn't be going that fast for that long on public roads with it anyhow to worry about downforce.

Re: Ricer with an EVO

I have an EVO MR and I do not hate RA Lancers. I just pity them as those cars could cost 25K tops with all the fancy options while you might be able to get a 25K '03 EVO or less. Regular lancers needs a lot of face lift to exactly look like an EVO. And a lot of money to perform like it. I have seen lancers with front and rear EVO body kits. All they do is stare at my car and wont even dare to race. Other Evos on the road either give me a thumbs up or nod their head.
I haven't seen an RA perform but please keep it on its class.

and here in Canada EVO's dont pass the 5km front bumper test so there are basically none. In Toronto I've been told that there are 2 classified as show cars, so its a 99.99% chance its a Ralliart or a reglar Lancer, so theres no suprises...most ppl here driving Lancers are just old ppl, or families, no racer or racer tryhards
