post your mods, how pleased you are with them or not
I would like to get a feel for what everyone else has done with there 01+ civic, these seem to be a hard car to buy for. kinda like a lot girlfriends, you lay down a decent amount of money but don't get much in return.
mine. AEM short ram - really good so far but summer coming and this hasn't seen 85+f weather yet. DC sports 4-1 header, custom down pipe, fac. cat, custom catback 2 1/4" piping, borla muffler - performs well, sounds deep not raspy. Unorthodox underdrive pulley - i really like this mod, much faster response, but fear what has happened to others not having a harmonic damper and am replacing with AEM tru-power alt. & PS setup this week. Apexi Super Ground w/additional ground runs & 1.2 farad cap i had laying around - once again revs up & down quicker, many don't believe in this mod but with underdrivin electrical systems i believe they work well together. Neuspeed front upper strut bar - really happy with this one, strong, not as heavy as they look. Neuspeed rear lower tiebar - looks great, but didn't notice much though. AEM HP brake pads/fac rotor - like em, don't see dust, stop well but could be better. Motegi rims/falkin ziex 512 - more rubber on the road and weigh less, can't go wrong there. falkins ride nice & great price, but could handle better, a little mushy feeling. other brands weigh less also. future mods: energy suspension master kit if they make one for us. thinking about venom controlled NO2, sounds nice but need to read into this one some more. |

mods
i have an 04 civic ex HFP,
aem short ram intake-did notice quite a difference but like you said summer is coming mugen power 4-1 header- definately helps the midrange Tsudo fireball exhaust-when vtec kicks in you know it,sounds real good too , but i put the silencer that came with it in cuz some rookie cops around my town are harassing us just so they look big and bad,so unfortunatley the silencer makes it more raspy , but damn when im cranking down the street you know it side note-my girlfriend has an 04 si with a k+n cai and for the first time i got the oppurtunity to race around with her after putting the mods on my car and supprisingly enough even she admits that my car is just about as fast as hers Not bad turning an EX into an SI with just three bolt-ons so im pretty happy |

Re: post your mods, how pleased you are with them or not
Ok I had to come in here and lay down some FACT.
WHP wheel horse power is what you want to think about. NOT what the specs for your car are. For example you say your car comes with 127hp but whp is actually 109 and thats fact on dyno of stock 2004 ex. With all these mods below the WHP dyno is about 115-118. Not a big difference at all. If you want your car to be faster you have to lighten up thats plain and simple fact for the D17. -NGK Iridium Spark Plugs -Ground Wire Upgrade -Apexi VAFC-II -Optima Yellow Battery -Ceramic Header -DH Racing Port and Polish Head -B+M Transmission Cooler -AEM Tru Power Pulleys -Hyper Voltage System -Invidia Full -Cat Delete -CAI Now a stock bone dry SI comes with 137 whp... The most WHP your going to get outta a D17 boosting is below 200 w/ out blowing your motor. |
