speakers
when i first got my car, the dealership said something about how the stock speakers had a small, built-in amp for each one of them, which would make replacing them very costly(i didnt catch all of it, but the was the general idea of it). is this true, or can the speakers be replaced easily? i'm looking at changing the two in the front doors for now.

the hardest part that you will run into is getting all the covers off of the speakers. The back speakers are not that hard to get to, but the fronts...well, i havent tried to take that off, so anyone who has let me know what I need to do.

Re: speakers
im pretty sure its when you get crossovers done. methinks thats what they are called. the deal that seperates the the high, mid and low channels.... i had all kicker components put in mine. madmarks(which kicks ass btw) pretty much re-did my whole car.

You dont "need" to rewire anything (i dont think). The reason most people do is because the wattage increase. I think the stock wire is like 18 or 20G wire, so not very efficient. A lot of high grade wire is like 14 or 12G, so it is better for increased watts. Also, if the cover is off, running new wire isnt that big a deal because the hardest part of running the wires is getting to the speakers...and if you replace the speakers then, i guess that part isnt a big problem. Why do something half assed if it might bite you there later. |

Re: speakers
i can understand rewiring when replacing the HU, but not when just replacing a speaker. it just doesnt seem practical to run new wires just for new speakers. i guess thats just me
