b16a1 pr3 throwing code 9 : cylinder position

90 4 dr lx with b16a1 and pr3 ecu.

The wiring was bad on this setup so we totally re-wired everything.
Originally with bad wiring, it was throwing 5 or more codes but know all went away exept the code 9 which is the No. 1 cylider position sensor. I have done wiring jobs on 4th gens w/ b16a1 before and it is now hooked up the same way as always: cylinder position sensor ( blue/green, and blue/yellow) wired into C1 and C2 at ecu. We thought it may have been a bad sensor in the distributor so a brand new dizzy was put on and it still throws the code, which leaves the wireing and or the ECU. Does anyone have any helpful hints? We are going to test the resistances of the wiring 2morrow to see it it could be a bad wire and check the grounds. Can the ECU be bad just in the cylinder position circuit? Before we fixed the wireing, he had problems with ECU's going bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, will the cyl pos code cause v-tec to not work? just wondering.

Thanks for the help.

Did you use shielded wiring? You have to use shielded wiring on all those sensors. Also if the cam timing is off you will throw the code.
