Went to the drag strip today.

My best run was a 14.6@97mph with a 2.100 60ft and a .516 r/t. But, it was 74 degrees. I guess the warm weather definitely had an effect on my times.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

I didn't do well when I went yesterday either.

I wouldn't think 74 degrees could make up for a 4 MPH difference though. That takes roughly 30-40 HP difference to obtain. Sometimes more.

Still, not too bad. I know how it is knowing there is more in the car.

Meh, better than what I'd run. Still decent times, good job.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

I was babying it off the line too much. And babying third. Next time I'm gonna let it loose. I mean hell..I launched at not even 2,000 rpms and I was cutting 2.1s.

I couldn't launch mine at all. The stock clutch wouldn't allow it. It would just slip. I had to roll off the line from around idle.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

yeah ... you have a lot more in there if you get off the line harder. I would thing your car should be able to trip a 1.8/1.9 if you let it

... that would put you into the high 13 second territory.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

My shits bone stock. I just needed to get some stock runs before I modded it. Just so I'd know what was improving and what wasn't. I think my 2.100 60ft (it was 2.100 exactly) is pretty good for my $88 cheapo 245/45/17 tires.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

2.1 60' times are about right for a stock car with street tires.
I have never pulled anything better than a 2.139 on street tires. Last time down, I had better traction, but my clutch wouldn't allow for anything better than about a 2.3.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

What tire pressure are you running?

I did not mean to imply anything bad about your 2.1 ... that is a fine launch. I just suspect your car is capable of a sub 2.0 in the 60'.

Re: Went to the drag strip today.

under 30psi. around 27ish. it's capable of 1.9s definitely. you shoulda seen my launch that got that 60ft. it was weak as fuck. I dropped the clutch at like..1800rpms. It just made one nice loud squeak and took off. It was weird though...I was chirping going into 3rd gear. Like a loud chirp. I thought I hit the water box or something..but I asked my friend who watched and he said I cleared it. So yeah. When I did that particular run..I cleaned my tires off by revving it up to about 5,000rpms and popping the clutch and just letting them spin for a few seconds. My friend with an automatic GT was tearin' it up. He ran 14.2s@98mph with a best of 2.089 60ft. On street tires. First time there. And that's some shit..I taught him how to launch..and he was launching better than me. Oh well, we'll see what I can do next time. It was filmed..so maybe I have some good video of something. I'll post pictures too.

BTW: I ran an LS1 WS6 who couldn't run faster than a 14.4@101mph. I killed him all the way to the 1/8th where he'd pick it up and pass me.
