Trouble Code 15 -- '95 SC1--Need help with resistance
I'm getting code 15 when I short the computer. I replaced the sensor, car is cooling fine. I checked the voltage on the connector with the car in the ON position. 5 volts, like it should be.
I tested the resistance of the engine coolant temperature sensor. I'm not an electrical guy, so I had my voltmeter on 20K on the resistance side. It spit back 2.93. I ran the car for about 5 mins and tested it again. At 20K, it said .43. Are these okay readings? Do I need to retest at a different setting? If those are fine, what else is there to check? Thanks! Here are the resistances for the ECTS or IAT in various tempertures
-20 degrees F________39K-53K OHMs 0 degrees F__________21K-27K OHMs 60 degrees F_________3.9K-4.5K OHMs 120 degrees F________1.0K-1.1K OHMs 160 degrees F________430-480 OHMs 200 degrees F________215-235 OHMs readings sound low to me. this is the new brass style ECT right? check the connector too for gunk. |

HMMM... That post looks familiar...
![]() come on sierrap, quotes should be quoted... Here is where it came from My Post Quote:
read: 2.93K OHMs cold (about 80 degrees), and 430 OHMs warm (about 160 degrees) Fits right in there

The ECTS is new, clean, brass, looks fine, and I guess it is fine...The ratio is correct between the two resistances, I was just unsure about the numbers....
So, that having been decided, why is my Check Engine light on?!? I checked all fuses, connections, etc....unhooked the batttery overnight, hooked it back up, still get same trouble code. JB |

Re: Trouble Code 15 -- '95 SC1--Need help with resistance
hmmm....code 15 is coolant sensor/low temp. Did you change out the right sensor? there are two sensors right in the same vincinity that are the same style. I believe the lower one is the ECTS that shoots info to the PCM.
