Re: Boost gas mileage

me either - it's not worth any small fuel mpg gains it may provide

Re: Boost gas mileage

it would dry out everything rubber and make it brittle and make things leak, like fuel, not good.

Exactly. Going to be funny when the fuel line bust and their car catches on fire.

Thats what I was about to say. The first time the add a little to much they are going to blow their motor. Save motor or gas? Hrmm..hard one

Re: Boost gas mileage

it wouldn't blow the motor necessarily, but it could cause a fire eventually as it does dry rot hoses and o rings. reformulated gas is hard enough on rubber fuel components. acetone would be much harder on it. soak a rubber hose in acetone for a while and see what heppens to it in a week or two.

By "blow" the motor I mean ruin. I can just imagine what this stuff would do to piston rings over time.

Re: Boost gas mileage

it wouldn't do anything to piston rings just rubber stuff. An engine can run on anything combustable that can be contained in the cylinders, if you run to much combustion then you can fry pistons but it takes more that just an alcohol base product. something like nos or a highly combustable gas to do that.

obviously you guys didnt read the link http://pesn.com/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/

You only put at maximum 3 ounces per 10 gallons which equates to somewhere in the neighborhood of .3% concentration. At this concentration you won't see any negative effects on rubber seals, gaskets, etc. They even did testing with up to 50/50 gas/acetone solution with NO damage done to seals, orings, gaskets after 6 months.

Read before you proceed.
Don't be a dumbass.
