WIP: Project Camaro

Just a quick sketch I did last week to get an idea on paper for a custom Camaro. A buddy of mine wants to see his rust bucket revived Overhaulin' style so he asked me to do this. I might finish this one up today.

Re: WIP: Project Camaro

Very nice. What kind of paper are you using? Btw, the wheels look a bit big IMO.

Paper is 80lb sketch paper, I've been using a Mead Academie Sketch Diary that I bought about ten years ago for these recent car sketches. I've alwys preferred this type of paper.

Anyway, here is the color version I just finished 5 minutes ago.

I used Design markers which, believe it or not, are also about ten years old. I've kept them stored in a plastic pencil box for all this time and they still work like new.

Re: WIP: Project Camaro

Tough car to draw...you did great.

The headlights and the nose is tough to do, but you nailed it.

Maybe add some darks to the interior.

cool

This is great! There's an art website you might want to check out. www.wetcanvas.com. Doesn't look like you need any help, but everyone's willing to share ideas and pointers, plus lots of ideas for new projects. And it's FREE!! Works for me!

Re: WIP: Project Camaro

Wow looks great now. I'd just maŽke the interior darker... and the lower door part was planned to stay white, wasn'nt it? It first looked to me as if you forget to color it..

Great rendering!

rfoxden- thanks for the link, I get tips wherever I can get them. I used to draw a lot more in my school days and have been on a little hiatus since I graduated H.S. in 1993. Trying to get back in the swing of things is very hard.

knightvision- yes, the bottom rocker area and around the back of the car were meant to stay white. I thought it would help with the racecar look I wanted and couldn't bring myself to fill it in with orange after staring at it for about 20 minutes.

Re: WIP: Project Camaro

Believe me, I know. I didn't draw for about 15 years after I graduated, dare I say '79!!! I've gotten interested again since my son is in advanced art classes and doing amazing work. That art site might really motivate you, too. You just might be another Chip Foose, never know! Love the car, too, I had a '76 camaro as a senior for a couple of years. Wisconsin weather makes it hard to have a sport car as your only means of transport! Good luck with your drawing and keep up the good work.
