99 cavalier 2.4L cylinder 1 misfire

I have had rough idle problems and poor gas mileage for about a year now, but have been unsuccessful in tracking the cause down. However, today my check engine light actually came on. Error being Cylinder 1 misfire detected. Could this be as simple as plugs or the rubber boots between the plugs and coil? Any ideas? Please help!

it could be the rubber boots or the coil housing. Take the coil cover off the engine and inspect the coil housing for black soot marks. If those are there the coils are arcing from one cylinder to the next. It is a simple repair and the coil housing costs about $50 at autozone; however that is probably not the solution for your bad gas mileage.

I live in Arizona, were the heat has to my coil packs 3 times already. They overheat and burn out. It's a good idea when you do the spark plugs, is to replace the coil packs, boots, coil housing, and coils. dkup-97z24/125Kmiles
