Can't get key out of steering column?
I just picked up a 2002 Envoy and I can't get the key to remove from the column? The vehicle will start and stuff, but I can't get the key all the way to the off position so I can remove it. I can remove the key, but I have to put a screwdriver in the little access hole on the bottom of the column. What is wrong with this? Is there something simple I can do to get this to work correct? I don't have a book for this yet either. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Can't get key out of steering column?
I had the same problem with my 02 envoy. Have you noticed that it is difficult to shift out of park as well? I took it to the dealer and they replaced something in the gearbox. Luckily I was still under warranty.

Re: Can't get key out of steering column?
hi,Check to see if the shifter boot is stuck in the shifter , if this happens then the key won't come out because the shifter is not going all the way into park. If this isn't the problem then possibly you will need a new shifter.

Re: Re: Can't get key out of steering column?
It ended up being that the shifter rod was bent. I bought the Envoy wrecked. I straightened it out and it is working fine. It wasn't fully locking into part, thus is wouldn't let the key come out.
