recalculate speedo and trans? with larger tires?

I am looking at puttin 22's on my truck but do I have to get my transmission reprogrammed? I know the speedo will be off but i figured that you could just swap bigger tires and wheels on and not have to reprogram anything major other than the speedometer?

Let me know what you have to input!

Re: recalculate speedo and trans? with larger tires?

It might be best to have the computer reprogrammed to match the wheel/tire diameter you plan to use. A dealership can do this for you but I think its only for the tire diameters they used at the factory. I'm not sure about that one. A Hypertech programmer can also do this for you. If you don't recalibrate the speedo, not only your speed, but your milage will be off as well. Remember, if using really large diameter combination you might want to upgrade to larger brakes as larger wheels and tires increase rolling mass considerably. Also, numerically higher gears will help maintain low end torque.
