Talking Okay .... finally found this sub-forum

Hi guys (and gals),

I knew about this forum for a bit, but have not wandered over until now.

Hyde update: all my new mods far exceeded the cabilities of my mid-sized T3T4 turbo .... so it has been yanked.

By Tuesday I should have a brand-spanking new GT35r (500+ rwhp capable). We will only be loooking for mid-to-low 400s for now though.

Anyway ... hi

Re: Okay .... finally found this sub-forum

PWRDbyUNCLEbens, that MR2 you linked to is actualy the "Extreme Bost" car. It is avery impressive vehicle, it's just a shame he built it by taking screwing over dozens and dozens of customers all over the world. He is perma-banned from the MR2 board for his horrible business ethics.

As for the turbo I am getting, here's a little tid bit.
All of my racing happens above 4200 rpms, so low-end lag is not an issue.

Below is my last dyno from last summer (red graph) compared with a turbo MR2 with my set up with the addition of the turbo I just ordered (blue graphs).

Notice they intersect right where my racing begins .... how do you all feel about a torque curve going vertical?

Wow, thats a drastically different curve! Definately spool late (compared to graphs of the 3S that I've seen), but you have a race car so its all good.

Re: Okay .... finally found this sub-forum

yeah ... it will be a little more of a putz driving around without boost, but I can deal with that.

The GT35 graph above was at 24 psi (what I was racing at last year). We are probably going to tune for 20 psi and see where that gets us.

If the engine survives the year, next winter I am going to be putting strong valve springs in to raise the rev limiter to 8000-8400 rpms and forged pistons to up boost to 27-29 psi.

We'll be searching for 500+ ... that is a ways away though. I need to survive this year first.

Ehh you get used to it, I have no top end boost capability right now because the plugs that came in the car are cheep Bosch and gaped too wide, starts to hesitate at only 4k .

So are you running/going to be running race gas on a daily basis?

Re: Okay .... finally found this sub-forum

Thanks all,

Igovert, Hyde is probably going to be on a steady race gas diet as long as this engine is in there over 200,000 miles. I rarely drive Hyde on the street so this is not a big deal. Jekyl and Jekyl Jr. (for sale!) are what I susually drive around.

Re: Okay .... finally found this sub-forum

chevy I was hoping to maybe sniff 10s ... with this new turbo I will have the ability to hit 10s comfortably.

I do not expect to do this right out of the box.
I expect to have to learn to launch and drive the car all over again. This is going to be a healthy change.
