brake light on
1995 Pontiac Grand Am SE 4 cly 2.3 quad. What could be causing the red brake light to come on and syay on? I have already checked the brake fluid and made sure the parking brake was not on.There doesn't seem to be an apparent problem, the car stops fine and seems normal. Also the ABS light is on too. But this has been on for over a year and was diagnosed as a front wheel sensor.Had that replaced and light came back on then was diagnosed as a bad EBCM. How can I diagnose this problem?

Re: brake light on
You either have a short or your brake switch that is located under your steering column has gone bad.

Re: brake light on
The brake light switch is located at the top of the brake pedal itself, near the mounting bracket for the pedal assmbly. Careful, if ya have cruise, their is a cruise control switch next to the brake light switch [to disengage cruise when ya step on the brake].
I am not sure, but I think the parking brake lever ON light uses the regular brake light switch to activate the dash light when engaged. |
