Warmer weather is here, time for swap.

As some of you may remember before Thanksgiving I did A Y8 build. Parts are in my sig. Well it became really cold and between weather and work I had no time. Now that the weather is getting warm again here it's time to start the engine swap.

Anyone got any good tips? Well I am going to try to get started tomorrow so wish me luck.

Well I did a mini-me swap (A6 block and Y8 head). Well that lasted about 2 weeks and the motor blew (reason still unknown). So I had a Y8 block laying here I was about to work on anyway.

Got the block bored .020 over, crank balanced, new bearings, eagle rods, and JE 10.5:1 c/r pistons. The head got port and polished and oversized valves. Bought a DC 4-2-1 header, XTD stage two clutch, new water pump, all new seals and gaskets, adjustable cam gear, and "new" Si tranny.

So by time all that happened it had got so cold I couldn't do any work. Now it is getting warm outside again and the swap is about to go in. (still have to get the old A6 bottom and old Si tranny out.

Oh and no I am not going OBD1.

well, have you got the wiring worked out? Wiring would probabaly be easier if you did convert but i may be wrong. you are going vtec right? If you run the p28 ecu and get an obd jumper harness then the wiring is very easy.

Shouldn't be any wiring needed. Si harness has everything I need besides v-tec. That will be controlled by a RPM acitvated switch. After I go nitrous it will be controlled by a VAFC and the nitrous by the rmp switch.

Re: Warmer weather is here, time for swap.

ok as long as you have it worked out and know whats up. You seem to pretty much know what your up to so the only things that i ran into was that the fuel line coming in on the drivers side that i think is some kind of return line or something, the hose on your car is 5/8 and the new line is 1/4 inch so you'll need to reduce that line. Other thatn that, the map sensor on the fire wall, the connector for that now need to run to the top of the throttle body, but you probably figured that out by now, i lengthened my wires to be safe. i am not sure what injectors you are using but if your are using obd1 injectors you'll need the plugs and the dizzys are different too, so i hopw you know which one to use in your situation. Just to make sure but you seem to have enough knowledge to tackle this project, so let us know how it turns out man, i hope all goes well and keep us posted.

Re: Warmer weather is here, time for swap.

Sugguestions for swap:
1.Drain all fluids, move climate control to heat and hot to drain all rad fluid
2.Dont half ass something-if you dont have the right tool, get the right one!
3.Expect to make a mess! Keep some extra cat liter or oil sop
