Angry 94 Legacy doesnt want to shift

Hey, i'm just wondering if anyone else out there has this problem and what they did to go out about fixing it.. i've got a 1994 Subarua Legacy that just does not like to get out of park for the life of it!! Usually after some break tapping of about 5 mins or restarting the car a few times it shifts fine, but lately it has been getting more and more tempramental..

once out of park it works fine.. i'm really trying to go and do this project on my own seeing i'm a poor college student and need this car for a few more years.. if anyone could send me a link with info on how to fix this problem or ideas to go about fixing it that would be great thanks!

you may have the pepsi syndrome.most people have spilled a beverage or 2 on the shifter area.just pry up the shifter cover and look down onto the shifter side you will see a small shift lock solenoid.the plunger will move as you hit the brake on and off.just use some brake cleaner to remove the spillage from that plunger.worst case you may need a new solenoid.but testing is needed before you replace anything
