2005 Gti?

should I wait for the new style or stick with the old style?
I don't care for the new style it looks to european for me.
kinda looks like a focus+matrix+aveo all crashed together IMHO.
I don't know if it will grow on me or not.
But I need something that gets good gas mileage and alittle performance.
thinking about the 1.8T in it. with a few small mods.
what do you think?

2006, never buy a first year model of any german car. if u really have to, go for the 2005...the 04 style has been around since 1999.

Wait for the new body, if you can. It should be far superior to the old car, and since they have been selling it in Europe for at least a year before it hits the U.S. You shouldn't have to worry about the new model gremlins.

I agree, when the mk4 first came out it had problems until they got resolved by early 00 and 01 mk4s. The newer the car (new style) the more of a chance of a probs.

Re: 2005 Gti?

I have to disagree. The new GTI, from what I have read in European car mags, is a far better car. More hp, IRS, larger size, smoother tranny, etc. Plus VW has said they have rededicated themselved to eradicating quality problems and I will believe them for now. VW's longer warranty and high resale values will protect you if the unfortuante does happen.
