Heater smell

OK, got a new problem. I turned the defroster on this a.m., as the windows were frosted up. I came back out to leave, and thought something was on fire; the care was fill filled with the smell of rubber burning. Any ideas?

Re: Heater smell

Wiring to your fan speed control? Perhaps the smell is antifreeze, doesn't smell like rubber to me but you could have a leak. Check to see if your carpet is wet under the dash.

I find that new coolant hoses can somehow give a stinky rubber smell to the vehicle for a while. Not sure if you replaced any, but if you did it'll go away in about 2 weeks.
