Re: Single turbo conversion

i've seen some people on 3si that have contemplated it, or actually done it. It's pretty rare, but it's been done. Check 3si out for more info.

Why single when you can go double?

Re: Single turbo conversion

Wouldn't certain parts of an NA engine blow if we added two turbos on it? Or will it blow with one either way?

Re: Single turbo conversion

It doesnt matter the number of turbos, just the psi your pushing and the cfm your flowwing, twin is a lot easyer to install.

Re: Single turbo conversion

to slade... I think the pistons would get f'd up b/c they aren't those of the proper compression... I'm not sure about some of the other internals...

Re: Single turbo conversion

single turbo has the ability to push more hp. i know alot of people with supras who go single because of hp advantage... plus when you start going big on turbos there isnt enough room back there for the second turbo... say i wanted a big 76 trim... well it just isnt possible with it to be back there... plus its too hot behind the engine... haveing single turbo with have cooling advantages...
plus its alot cheaper to buy one big turbo than it is to by 2 smalls...

What are your settings on your profec II i have had probles with it spiking. I shut off the start boost and it still spikes i turn the gain down then it won't hold enough psi. Im curious to what you have your settings at. Thanks

Re: Single turbo conversion

Anyone with really big twins doesnt put them in the stock location, they would go to the left of the engine.

The pistons in an NA are 10:1 instead of 8:1, it just means you will make boost sooner and more power at a lower psi, but your max hp will be less in theory. As far as strength, they are made of the same thing as TT pistons.

Re: Single turbo conversion

true but i would sujest you not put a turbo on a 10:1 engine... because youll blow it up and sooner or later and will have to get it rebuilt.

Yeah, I figured something would go bad sooner or later.... That's why when I finally start making money, I'm gonna probably go the super charger route. That's gonna be fun!!!

On a proper tune a 10:1 can run boost just fine. IPO ran as much as 18 psi on a 158k 10:1 bottom end without blowing it up. It didnt blow until a miscue of the MBC and he hit 28psi with only enough fuel for 21psi.
