94 jetta auto tranny

just replaced a tranny on my 94 jetta with a 96 model and now the thing wont shift. apparently the computer has gone into limp mode, so i got a new computer and still nothing. anyone got any idea what the diff is between the trannies.

Did the '96 model have a dipstick? If not then it's a O1M (the '94 had a O96) & is totally incompatible electronically.

it is 096, the only difference is the extra sensor. but i kept the 94 computer,so it doesnt need it and the wiring harness on the trans is,( apart from color codes) the same. even same part#s

What is the three letter code from each of the units (the '94 should be a CNK or CFF)?
