starter not turning over fast

i have a 87 ranger 2.9l engine. about 3 nights ago i went to start it and the starter wouldnt turn over. each time i turned the ignition the stater turned over faster and faster until i got it started. after startup it immediately shows a full charge on the battery. after i got it running i here a loud tapping/clicking noise comming from the area of my starter. on top of that my truck idles extremly rough shaking the entire truck. when i get back to my house i turn it off and try to crank it it starts just fine. the next morning i had the same problem so i let it run till the clicking stopped and went to autozone. at autozone i had them check my battery and alternator and both were fine. i then called the shop i go to and they ran a chaeck on the battery, alternator, and starter. everything was fine but they said everynow and then my starter would draw two many amps from my battery draining my battery as soon as i turned the ignition. i had my starter replaced and immediatly went home. at home i turned it off and started it up and everything was fine except for the rough idling. the next morning i go to start it and the brand new starter wouldnt turn over again. again each time i turn the ignition the starter turned over faster and faster until it started. im taking it back to the shop tommorow and i would appriciate it if someone could help me as everyone i ask is clueless.

Re: help please

It sounds to me like you have either a bad solenoid, bad ignition relay, or a module (brain) going bad. See if the shop you're going to can run a voltage test on all those. Might turn out to be a quick fix.
