NEED HELP BADLY.. SEVERE OIL Leak, Hitting Exuahest Manifold
I have a 91' Exlporer Sport 4x4.. Just replaced Valve Covers And Gaskets. The oil is coming somewhere out of the back of the motor
hitting the drivers side header an makeing some serious smoke... IMO i thinks its the Real Main Seal, But im not sure... Any help would be great... If It is the rear main seal... can i change it without haveing to pull the motor out? |

How much oil is coming out like quarts within a day or just dripping. I believe you have to drop the trans to change out the rear main seal.

If i go out and run it for 15 min. at a time bout 3 er 4 times, it'll lose maybe half a quart er so.. its leaking onto the starter and the cross member underneath... not to mention its hitting the drivers side exhaust mani. and smokeing like crazy..

im unsure of the location of this but try checking your oil pressure sensor on your engine block...sometimes the seal on those can break down over time and leak oil by. best thing to do is really get a light on hunt the leak down. do a good power washing and start from scratch...and search. Good Luck!!

I believe its where the flexplate hooks up to the block.....or flywheel for manuels.
your gonna have to drop the tranny, and work it from there.....sounds like a bitch of a job.. I'd suggest getting a chilton, or a haynes service manuels.....but yea I'd check the leak by flashlight and make for damn sure its the correct repair. |
