How do I pull out dash lights?
I have a 95 Talon ESI. Both the ABS and Washerfluid lights are on and stay on constantly. I basically dont care if my abs is working or not and I know that the washer fluid is full.
How do i take apart the dash and remove the lights for these two - they are really annoying? Any help is appreciated. I just need to know the best way to just get these lights to not light up and do not have the $$ to fix the actual sensor or relay problems, etc. |

Re: Re: How do I pull out dash lights?
Hey, I have torn my dash apart many times. I have a 92, but I think it is very similar to yours. There are several screws around the dash trim. 2 or 3 on the bottom above the steering column, and 2 or 3 inside where the guages are, search around, you will find them. There is also a small piece of plasic trim between the dials and the guage trim, this pops off and there are some screws behind here as well. Next pull it out just enough to reach your fingers in and disconnect the harnesses for the dimmer switch, fog lights, and the rest of those little knobs and such that are part of the trim. If you pull the trim out before diconnecting all of these, you may rip some wires. You might want to label each harness with tape to remember what goes where in case you forget, some of the harnesses look the same. then there will be sevaral screws for the actual guage assembly, take those out. Make sure the ignition is off. then if I remember right, the whole assemply will just pop out if you pull it. But pull gently. Once you get the assembly out, I think you will have to unscrew the back of it, then there should be all of the little bulbs that pop out. I have taken it apart in my car for the hell of it a couple times, but it has been about 2 years, so dont quote me on everything. I also have a spare dash/guage assembly if you need one, but it is out of a 92, so I doubt it will work with yours. Hopefully this helps you, if not, start taking things apart very carefully so that you know what goes where. Otherwise have someone help you or read someone elses posting.

Re: How do I pull out dash lights?
95 is completly different. get a chiltons or haynes manual and it should tell you how to take the dash apart.

That would have been my next tip if it were to be different

Here ya go step by step removal and installation instructions:
1. There are two screws at the top of the Black plastic trim around your gauges, take those out. 2. Remove the black trim. It may be necessary to lower your steering column. 3. There are 4 screws around the Gauge Cluster. Remove those. 4. Carefully remove Gauge Cluster. There are no wires or connectors to worry about. The connections come off as you remove the cluster. Each Light is located in a twist on cap on the back of the gauges. Remove the lights you don't want. Instillation is reverse of Removal. If lowering your steering column dosen't create enough clearance to remove the black trim, there are three screws located on the bottom of the steering column remove those three. The plastic around the Column is clipped together and should come of pretty easily. Don't force it your you'll break the clips. Last edited by fiberglasscivic; 04-08-2005 at 06:22 AM. |

Re: How do I pull out dash lights?
you can usually maneuver the black trim around enough to get it off without unbolting the steering column.
