exhaust TIPS

I am putting on a new exhaust this month and need opinions as well as some places to find tips. I want to do side outlets with flowmasters but im open to opinions. I dont want the regular straight back or to each rear corner(but I would do that if I cant think of anything better) .
I have even thought of exiting it where the stock is with a nice tip. My ideal would be dual in front of each rear wheel but apparently that isnt possible do to some locations of flamable parts.

Re: exhaust TIPS

If getting tips, spend a couple more bucks for the stainless steel ones. No matter what they say, chrome is crap. My chrome tips are about a year and a half old and they look like rusted pieces of crap. You can get them from summit racing, jegs, or look around on ebay. I've seen some magnaflow stainless ones on ebay for about $30. My tips exit out the back. I think exiting in front of the rear wheels looks cheap but to each his own.

Re: exhaust TIPS

i have mine turned behind each rear wheel but not completly 90 degrees. They kinds come out at the corners and point down a bit. You can check my gallery for a pic. check the view from my tailgate.

And might i suggest too going for the stainless steel tips.

Re: exhaust TIPS

Something i did that i really like is running a single tip out on just the passenger side where the stock tail pipe is but i got it coming out on a 45* angle so that it's pretty much straight down from the tail light. Another tip that probably save you some money is to shop around and buy all of the mufflers, and/or tip that you want installed on your truck and bring them to the muffler shop to be put on. Muffler shops sometimes charge a premium for stuff like flowmaster muffs. They can generally be found for around 50 bones vs around 100 at the shop.

Re: exhaust TIPS

IMO, it is also woth it to pay the extra to get your exhaust done with stainless piping as opposed to the aluminized piping. As well, go with stainless tips.

Re: exhaust TIPS

<sigh> Well, unfortnately, the original owner of my truck just had the end of the factory exhaust chopped off and a muffler with dual outlets welded in its place. Pseudo dual exhaust. As far as flowmasters go, my dad has had his truck for 10 years, and the previous owner put 2 flowmasters on it at some point. So, we know they've been there at least 10 years... Still look pretty damn good, and sound good, too.
