Starting Problems NEED HELP

New to this, so I hope I give all the pertinate info.

I am having problems starting my 95 Monte Carlo Z34. I have replaced the Timing Belt, Starter Motor, and the Battery, Cleaned all the electrical connections, and insured they were all tight. I can start the vehicle and it will run well. If I turn it off and try to restart the engine, it barely turns over. If I let it set for an hour and try again, it starts without a problem.

Re: Starting Problems NEED HELP

did it exhibit the same symptoms before you changed the starter? if not, then you probably got a bad starter. If the old starter did the same thing, it may be your battery cables are internally corroded. As they get hot, the corrosion increases resistance in the cable, thus not allowing enough current flow to the starter.

I have changed the starter motor 3 times thinking it was a starter issue. All three have been slugish after the forth of fifth time craning. I have checked the cables, they are clean with 5 milli Ohms of resistance. I am starting to think that there is a timing problem.

Re: Starting Problems NEED HELP

I had a 1966 Pontiac with this problem. It ran great but I could never fix the problem.I sold it to a guy for 60.00 he but a new negative battery cable on and away he went.Problem solved.I also had a 1976 Monte same problem This time I but Negative and Positive cables on and drove it another eight years.Older GM 60's-70's were nortoris for this.If you replace the cable cut the insulation off the old one and you'll most likely find a lot of corossion.Cars are really weird.
