Defrost vents always on.

Why is my defrost vents always blowing air? No mater which vent position I have the air turned to, the defrost vents are blowing the most air. also when I step on the gas the air stops blowing completely.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Defrost vents always on.

the vent selection is vacume controled, chances are that you have a bad vac line or connection someplace. could also be a bad vac switch or motor. also, there is a TSB about the check valve that is between the engine and the switch, I'll see if I can find it, basically what it envolves is puting in a larger/better check valve.

TSB= Technical Service Bulliten
it's what dodge sends out to the dealerships so that the techs know how to diagnose and fix a particular problem.
all TSBs are submitted to the NHTSA, here's theire web address, http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/
I belive they have a search feature that allowes you to search for TSBs for your particular vehicle.
