DOT 3 is brake fluid.
You can get it at most major auto stores. It's harmful to skin, wear protection. Also do not poor down the drain. Most of the time you have to dispose at specfic locations. And also do not leave on your workbench.. Just one drop will start to strip paint. |

Oh and how to use it -
Poor DOT 3 into a container large enough to cover the entire body. Place body in container with DOT3. Leave overnight. Take out, using rubber gloves wash the paint off, use a toothbrush to get into the panel lines etc... It works, and very well. You will end up with plastic again. You might have to lightly sand the surface afterwards, but not much, just re-prime when washed and dry and then start again. |

Doesn't "DOT" stand for "Department Of Transportation". I don't think it matters as much as the paint you are trying to remove. I still like oven cleaner better... - Mark

I thought oven cleaner is only good for acrylic? I've used oven cleaner on tamiya acrylic, works a treat and DOT4 for Tamiya TS and automotive paints. Oven cleaner also works a treat to strip chrome if you intend to paint the chrome parts... |

Re: Dot3
Some Dollar stores carry that stuff too. Pluss whe you pay $3.44 for one can of some name brand of brake fluid at auto store, for the same price you get 3 cans at the dollar store.

Re: Dot3
I have a body soaking in brake fluid right now... it's taking care of the TS paint like nobody's business.
Just wondering, if you're not supposed to dispose of it down the drain, how do you wash it? Or do you just rinse a little bit down the drain with lots of water?
