Harness question

As I have been reading in other forums, I never knew that if you got a harness unless you had it mounted to a roll cage or something, its acctually bad for you?

Say I were to get a racing seat, now unless I got a cage, or that bar that Sparco makes for their harness, theres no point in getting one? Or can harnesses be fitted somehow without one, because I heard some harnesses were made for the seats? I want to get a racing seat...yes one because Im just going to be ghetto like that [shrug], but if theres no point in getting a harness thats going to do good, why should I get one? Because I really dont want to have to spend all that extra just for a harness, and I dont think Im ever going to be racing to the point I need a roll cage.

I dont mean to seem like one thats asked this question before, but Id rather ask and look dumb now, rather than find out the hard way and possibly the bad way.

Re: Harness question

the problem is, most people mount their harnesses to the rear of their seat which is REALLY bad for you because if you crash and the seat breaks(which it most likely will) the seat belt is holding you to the seat rather than to the car, so you get thrown around the car as if you wern't wearing a seatbelt anyway.

You don't need a roll cage to have harnesses though, if you mount the harnesses beside the rear seatbelt recievers then you'll be fine.
The best thing to do is to attach a standard seatbelt clip to the rear straps on your harness so you can plug it into the rear seatbelt reciever, that way you can remove it easily if someone needs to sit in the back,.,.,.

Re: Harness question

Just think about it...the stock seatbelts don't even touch the seats.
