I need help on clearing my side markers
Does anyone know how to get the piece of amber out of the side marker on a P11? I'm trying to get rid of all the orange on my car.

There is a tread in the "cosmetics" done by boogie on "how to clear corners and rear signals"....should tell you everything you need to know.

Yeah i've read that thread but it doesnt talking about the side markers on the fenders. It seems like i might break the clear cover if i try to force the piece of amber out.

on the 2001's arent the sidemarkers clear w/ an orange bulb in it?
just remove the sidemarker from your fender (the manual shows you how) and then replace the bulb. |

no the bulb is clear but there is an orange piece behind the cover that makes the light orange when it blinks.

I just cleared my side markers out a couple weeks ago. I did it very slowly using a saudering iron (did i spell that right?)...that pen-like tool that you use to melt that wire stuff or whatever. Upon close inspection of the amber piece in the side marker, you will see that its not directly attached to the side marker, so if you push on it with something it will come loose. The amber piece holds on to the sides of the marker with two really thin plastic strips on each side. First, I slowly broke those using pliars, twisting them, and breaking them. BTW, i was holding the side marker with cloth the whole time so I wouldnt scratch the outside. The strategy I used in taking out the amber piece was to take the saudering iron and try to make a line right through it, then rotate the amber piece and make another line right though it in another place. The point: With those lines criscrossing through the amber piece you can use the pliars and bend the amber piece enough to take it out. Or, you can melt small pieces off the amber piece to make it smaller and easier to pull out. It only took me like 10 min and it was perfectly done. I hope this is clear and will help any.

Sorry don't have any pics but I'll see what I can do. It looks pretty cool at night cuz when I use them it looks like small bright white flashes.
