Tornado to improve explorer gas milage
I just ordered a tornado for my 98 4.0 SOHV explorer. With the price of gas I figured I'd give it a try. Yesterday I filled my tank and am figuring out the MPG. I should have the Tornado by Monday at the latest. Once I have it and the pre-MPG is figured, I'll install it and test the MPG again. I'll post my results here if anyone is interested.

Re: Tornado to improve explorer gas milage
and oh something else...does anyone know what the KI-65, KI-70, KI-90, etc... mean????
I went to ebay to buy one but dont know which one is right for my 2001 explorer sport! didnt know the tornado's have model numbers. PS-if the tornado does actually work, it can save us $$$$$$$ overtime. |

Re: Tornado to improve explorer gas milage
update:
I found it guys KI models for a fuel-injected engine To ensure proper fit of a 'ki' unit, measure the inside diameter of the air intake hose. The 'ki' units come in 5mm increments and will fit 1mm smaller to 3mm larger than the specified unit. example: a ki-60 unit will fit a hose that measures 59mm to 63mm; a ki-65 unit will fit a hose that measures 64mm to 68mm; etc. |

Re: Tornado to improve explorer gas milage
I don't believe it will help you, but good luck on your research. Have fun and hope you are not dissapointed. How is swirling the air going to increase fuel mileage? So if that is true, you can go to the local drug store and buy a pinwheel, install in the air intake system and accomplish the same thing. I think this is like the magnet you clamp on fuel lines to "align the fuel molecules" so it flows through the injector easier and increases mileage?? These opinions are mine alone and I do not wish to incur anyone's anger on this subject.

I actually already know someone that put one on their vehicle and got a 18 % mileage gain. I just don't know how well they will fair for the explorer. If anyone needs to know which KI they need, go to tornado.com they have the charts that will tell you which one you need. I wouldn't buy it there though. You can get the same tornado product on ebay for half the price.
