Help pulling drivers side axle
I'm trying to pull the drivers side axle on a 97 neon with automatic transmission. My Haynes manual says to pry it off, but the 3 sided block thingy that you're supposed to pry is recessed enough into the side of the tranny that there is no way to get a pry bar in there. The picture in the manual is different than my car (either a manual tranny or a different year).
What's the secret to getting this axle shaft out? Thanks! |

Re: Help pulling drivers side axle
I finally got it. In case anyone else runs into the same problem, the pry bar gets inserted from the right side behind the motor mount. There's just barely enough room. Since you have a really lousy leverage angle, it takes a lot of ooommph to pop it free. I used my leg muscles and pushed with my foot. (That way, if the bar slips, you don't smash your face into the fender :-) ).
