Installing Trans Oil Temp Gauge
2 questions
1) What is involved in installing a Transmission Oil Tempurature gauge in a 98 Astro ? 2) Where do you run the wiring through to where it hooks into where it hooks into ? 3) Where is the best place to place the gauge once installed. OK that's 3 question, I know !!!! Thanks FishyBC |

FishyBC,
It's funny you brought that up cause I was planning to do same on my 97. Here are my thoughts so far: Buy an engine temp gauge kit at an auto parts Remove the tranny oil pan (mine needs a filter and oil service anyways) Have a welder weld a threaded fitting to the oil pan for sensor inst'n Install new filter, gasket and oil pan Fill tranny with new oil Install gauge on dash (I have not determine position yet) Do the wiring hook-up and Bingo! Hope this helps Astro fan |

As I understand it there are mechanical and electronic gauges. I'm guessing that you are talking about a mechanical one. I will probably whimp out and go with and electronic one. It just would be alot easier to install from what I understand..
I am working on getting an electric brake in this weekend. We'll see how far we get after that's installed. I'll let you know when I know more. Do let me know how you make out. |
