hey there... i have a 1978 jeep cherokee... has the 4.2L / 258ci inline 6... my question is... what intake/carb setup did it come with ? was it two or one-barrel (the carb) and was the intake cast iron or aluminum ? whatever it has on it now sucks bad... and it doesn't look stock ... any help would be greatly apprecieated... thx!!!

I believe the 258 came with a 2bbl (maybe a Carter?)..... at least that's what my '76 CJ7 had in it...a 2bbl of some sort.... Intake manifold was cast iron. Aluminum???? Come on man, this was 1978 and we are taking AMC here....

You might want to check out Clifford Research.... these guys have been doing some awesome things to stove-bolt and slant sixes for a *long* time..... they never heard of the old adage "Six in a row just won't go.".... might have a better option than what you've got and certainly better than a factory iron manifold.
