suspected piston slap!!!

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and am brought here from research regarding the dreaded piston slap that I am experiencing with my 2000 Silverado 5.3 V8. I'm in the process of trying to get a chevy dealer to look at it, but I am also considering having a shop bore out the cylinders and have aftermarket pistons and rods installed. My questions to you all are first, do you think that the above work would solve the problem? and two, what should I expect to pay (ballpark of course) for this type of work. I have not done any research yet into local shops but I want to know what I'm looking at ahead of time if I do decide to pursue this option. Thanks alot in advance guys, I really appreciate any help you can give as this d@mn truck is so loud I thought maybe someone swapped out my V8 for a diesel!!

Also, if you all can share some of the other possible fixes you may have come across that at least quiet the problem I would be very appreciative.

if the slap stops after the engine has ran for 5 minutes they won't do anything for you. they consider this normal and not damaging to the engine

It quiets down to where you can't hear it at all at some points, but I frequently (read: daily) hear the slap continue even after the truck has been running for sometimes hours. It's much quieter, and not constant, but it is the same sound.

Anyone think getting aftermarket pistons and having the cylinders bored would help? If so, what do you all think this may cost ballpark of course.
