1998 Dodge Intrepid 3.2L Engine Problems

My Check Engine light came on yesterday shortly after substantial constant vibrations shook the entire car. I took the car to Pep Boys (the only place open at the time) and they did an engine diagnostic. The result: "right bank rich condition" as the error message from the handheld device. They said only 3 cylinders (of 6) were working, one cylinder was at zero compression. "Possible bent valve, possibly due to skipping of timing belt." A spark plug and coil test were done as well. They recommended me to an engine shop, where it's currently being diagnosed again.

It's a great vehicle, but don't know if it's worth pumping more and more money into. Especially given the mileage.

Has this happened to anyone? Any advice?

Re: 1998 Dodge Intrepid 3.2L Engine Problems

since you have 103,000 miles, go ahead & change your timing belt, Chrysler recommends changing the timing belt every 105,000 miles; if I were you, if you can ask Pep Boys when they did the compression test, what were the exact numbers, should be around 125 psi for all cylinders. The possibility of the timing belt jumping time is a possibility so if what Pep Boys told you is a possibility.
