'93 Camaro Z28 Vs. '86 740 Turbo

There's this guy at school with an 1986 740 Turbo. I drive a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with about 315 hp, 340 ft/lbs of torque, that does 0-60 mph in about 5.5 seconds, and a 1/4 mile in about 14 seconds flat. How much work would the Volvo have to have done to it to run with me or even beat me? The reason I'm asking is because he says the only thing that he can't beat at my school is a Mustang with about 400 hp. Thanks for your help

Re: '93 Camaro Z28 Vs. '86 740 Turbo

The internals on the 740 motor are very strong. So, a turbo upgrade, full exhaust, boost controller, and probably and intercooler upgrade could be pretty competitive. These cars require careful tuning with these upgrades to prevent knock. Many people do 5.7 V8 swaps as well. I've seen one with a 5.0 as well.
