1992 4.3 Liter Back Up Light Switch

Have a 1992 4.3L 4X4 S-10. Went to change the back up light switch on the side of the transmission. Unplugged it, and didn't have wrench big enough to take it off, so I just left it un plugged. Will this cause any problems? Make the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light come on, or anything like that? Just curious, cause my lSERVICE ENGINE SOON light came on this afternoon and it's still running fine.WITH 185K I MUST SAY!!!

Thanks in advance!!

Re: 1992 4.3 Liter Back Up Light Switch

the backup lights shouldn't effect the check engine light. They are more of a convience than anything.

Until you change that switch if you need the extra light for backing up just turn your 4 ways on. It works!

You'll probably want to get those codes read from Autozone if you live close to one. From what I understand they do it for free

You say that it's running fine, but is it overdue for a tuneup? There are some things that you should really keep up with or they'll cost you lots extra. Like changing the fuel filter before it gest clogged and fryes your fuel pump
