Hi, am a newbie on this forum. I have a 2000 Blazer,4.3 LT V6 W 4 door with 83K. This is a very nice educational forum I have read. My question is: does the front drive shaft turns in 2WD during normal road run? Thank you in advance. It clunks from park into reverse and I checked the shaft end to the t-case has play about 1/8 or 1/4 turn on it. It's a great site!

Re: front drive shaft
It turns, but consider it freewheeling.

Re: Re: front drive shaft turns?
It turns with your wheels, even if it is not in 4wd.

Essecially, the front freewheels until the transfer case is actualated which will power them. Other than that, they are just along for the right.

Re: front drive shaft
Each generation is most certainly different . On my 89 , the front axles turn with the wheels . When the transfer case is locked in , the front diff is also locked to transfer power . But I realize this is old tech , with lots of these versions have AWD capability . Rob
