2000 Jetta VR6 Trunk latch,EPC light etc...

I have a 2000 jetta VR6, no mechanic here on Guam and need help! My trunk will not open, by either remote, driver door switch or key in trunk... It sounds like the motor is working but will not click open? Anyway of manually opening or could it be fuse?
Also, my rearview mirror has moisture in it making it foggy and creating a bubble,(probably due to heat here)? Can I fix it?
I have been told my brake lights do not work all the time and have had my EPC light come on. I ordered the EPC switch if it is the gray and green little cannon looking thing. Any suggestions please help. Thanks
