97 digital compass stays on

Is this normal? I just purchased the car a couple weeks ago, and just noticed that with everything turned off, the compass on the rearview mirror stays on. Just wanted to know if this is normal, and if not, how to fix it, lol.

This should answer one of your questions...this shouldn't be normal. How to fix it? I don't know. My suggestion is phone a local ford lincoln dealer and see what you can get out of them for advice....even the little bit they tell you can help point on the right direction.

My 97 does that also. It does go out after about 15 min. It then comes on again after I open the doors.

Re: 97 digital compass stays on

I had to change out my factory rear view for one I bought off of ebay.. but same thing here... I think it stays on until the "automatic shutoff" kicks in... it's not the one that happens when the door closes, but the one that happens after 20 minutes or so to make sure the battery doesn't get drained if you accidentally leave something on in the car.
